Showt is embarking on an unprecedented global project in free expression. We are providing the first platform for people across the planet to express themselves – without language barrier -- whenever they choose about whatever subject they choose: any public figure, institution, product, company, song, film, TV show, political party, or issue. ShowtCounts will be available to all in perpetuity.

Principles that guide our work:

• Egalitarianism

  Everyone has an equal right to express their opinions, regardless of wealth, gender, race, nationality, age, occupation, sexual orientation, politics, religion, or education.

• User anonymity

  We will do everything possible to keep Showter’s identities anonymous and beyond the reach of third parties.

• Speedy processing

  We will do our best to quickly ingest and tabulate all Showts and return to users ShowtCounts and ShowtBacks.

• Accuracy

  We will strive for 100% accuracy

• Promoting responsiveness by the powers that be

  We will encourage public figures, organizations and governments to create frequent ShowtBacks, to help establish a platform for two-way communication between them and the public

• Technical excellence

  We have to be masters of our technology, so the public feels confident entrusting their Showts with us.

• Inclusiveness across languages and devices

  We will strive to give people all over the world the widest possible variety of tools to Showt, including translation, adaptation to native text, and the ability for every possible digital device to be Showt-enabled.

• Sensitivity to religious and racial sensibilities

  We will not report No Showts on religions and religious icons (Mohammad, Allah, Islam, Jesus, Christianity, Judaism). Racial and religious slurs will be banned for both Yes & No.

• Encouraging expression without inflammatory speech

  The Showt platform, where the primary messages are expressed as simply Yes/No, is ideally suited to free expression stripped of opportunities for inflammatory speech.

• Transparency

  We will strive to make available all our data, except when it violates private individuals right to avoid the public spotlight (see “Respect for and protection of the private individual” below), or is part of a special Showt poll arranged specifically by a sponsor, in which case the data is owned by the sponsor.

• Respect for and protection of the private individual

  Private citizens will be allowed exemption from having Showts about them being made public, because:

  • Members of the general public should not be subject to the same scrutiny as public figures (politicians, athletes, entertainers, etc.)
  • When anyone attempts to Showt about a member of the public who is not listed in the Showt database the potential for the Showt to be registered for the wrong person is very high.

• Due Process

  We will allow anyone who feels ill-treated via the Showt Platform to request a Showt inquiry.

• Permanence

  We will to keep our data available in perpetuity, to form a lasting public record.

• Ethical trade with our advertisers and sponsors

  We will provide our clients with an efficient, effective and targeted advertising and marketing platform. We will strive to ensure that our Showters receive advertisements that are relevant and appropriate for them.

• Fairness & equality of expression

  We will reduce the opportunity for individuals or organizations who, through electronic or manual means, try to Showt excessively.

• Free

  We will try to provide as many free means to Showt as possible, so lower income people everywhere feel no economic burden to express themselves.
